The School of Medicine at University of Pretoria started out as the Faculty of Medicine in 1943. The first class comprised of 57 students. Over the years class sizes increased and departments of allied health care were added to the Faculty. With the formation of the Faculty of Health Sciences in 1999 the School of Medicine was established as one of four Schools in the Faculty, the others being Schools of Dentistry, Health Care Sciences and Health Systems & Public Health.
The School of Medicine offers training for the following degrees:
BClinical Medical Practice
Master of Early Childhood Intervention
Doctor of Medicine
Postgraduate Diploma in General Ultrasound.
NELSON MANDELA UNIVERSITY
The Nelson Mandela University Biokinetics and Sport Unit forms an integral part of the academic training and serves undergraduate as well as postgraduate learners. It also provides a fully accredited Biokinetics practice where qualified learners can complete their internship.

Must the student be registered before he/she can apply for the grant?
Yes, the student has to be registered for study at a University. In order for us to be able to disburse funds to the students, they also have to apply for financial aid via the University portal.
Does Masivuyisane Training NPC pay the money to the student, or to the university?
The donor pays the funds through to the University, which is kept in their cost centre Thereafter, funds are then disbursed into student accounts. This is handled by the FinAid office.
At what stage is the student informed?
It is always safe to inform the students once funds are received by the University.
